There are jobs upon jobs that wouldn’t be going without social media these days, and one of those is posting pictures of your dog on the internet to make money.
Making your dog famous on social media, hopefully, isn’t typically done for the money but having a bit of extra cash won’t hurt, especially if it buys new dogs toys!
But you’ve got to know how to play the game to be in the game, so here are our top tips on how to make your pooch social media famous!
Knowing Your Brand
When you start you account for furry four-legged friend you should pick a few ‘descriptive’ words, some words that will be how your dog portrays themselves on the internet, for example, ‘fun-loving, romantic, you wouldn’t have them playing sports, rather you’d have them with a glass of champagne and roses. Keep their brand consistent.
Don’t Start Too Early
This next tip is very important. If you are looking to make a bit of cash out of this wait until big brands start offering you money for posts etc. When you’re under around 20,000 followers lots of smaller brands will get in contact with you and ask if they send you a product then you have to post about it.
This may sound very tempting but in the whole scheme of things, this just means you’re doing it for free, with the addition of a new product.
Eventually, when the big brand approaches you they’ll see these posts and assume that you’ll do a post for them completely free! Sounds confusing but it’ll make sense in the end.
This happens to a lot of things, you’ll start them then get bored after a week or so. Don’t do this – if you want your dog to be the next ‘Doug the Pug’ or ‘Jiffpom’ then you have to be consistent. Don’t give up if you don’t get many likes or followers, the more you do the more your profile will grow.
Have a plan also, planning to upload will keep you motivated and stimulate you to post, and if you’re a super busy person take one day out of a month to take photos then upload them throughout the next, however long.
When you post why not add a few hashtags, it won’t affect anything, in fact, it’ll help!
Using hashtag means that when people use Instagram,’s ‘Discover’ feature they’ll find your account easily. If you’re not sure what hashtag to use then find out what other users similar to your ‘genre’ of Instagram account are using or you can see which ones of trending which will give a chance to get lots of visitors and followers!
Make Sure You and Your Dog Have Fun
You don’t want to make them do anything they don’t want to, as they’ve got to enjoy it too! If it gets big this could be a full-time job – imagine that, so you want to be able to love it!
It’s definitely an incredibly rewarding experience!
