Bored of the same walks every day? Here are some ways that you can make your dog walk more fun for you and your pooch.
Let Your Dog Do The Walking
Obviously, if your dog isn’t used to walking off the lead, or you walk near a busy road this might not be helpful but it’s a fun idea! Instead of you choosing the way to walk, allow your dog to choose the way, even if they’re on the lead if they’re pulling in a certain direction go that way!
This’ll make the walk a lot more interesting because you never know what they’re gonna smell or try and chase!
Invite A Friend
Is there another pooch that your four-legged friend gets on with particularly well? Invite them along for a dog ‘date’, another friend on the journey will make it 10x better and you’ll have someone else to chat to too!
Switch Up The Pace
If you’re feeling up for it when not try a light jog or run with your pooch? You could even jump on a bike to go even faster. Your dog will really enjoy the quick pace and you might just find yourself a new running partner.
Bring a Ball or Similar Toy
You might just do this anyway, but if you don’t now’s a good time to start. Bringing a toy will really up the fun for your dog, you’ll also get them doing twice the exercise because they’ll be running back and forth!
Try a Bit of Training
Why not bring in some training aspects? Everyone time you throw the ball teach the to bring it back, then every time they drop it for you to throw again offer them a treat. We really recommend The Retrieving Roll for this one, Tucked away is a little pouch where you can hide a treat; the reluctant retrievers learn really quickly that the only way they can get the treat is to return the Retrieving Roll to you.
As the dog gets more proficient in returning the dummy then delivery to hand can be insisted upon before the treat is forthcoming.
