So, what actually are the benefits of having a dog? Is it being nagged to play fetch? Nope. Read on to find out all the things that make having a dog great!
There are advantages and disadvantages to owning a dog, more advantages in our eyes.
Yes, dogs can be expensive and a lot of responsibility, but there’s just something about them that makes us all very happy!
If you think about it, there are a lot of benefits are dogs either let us do or make us do.
They encourage us to do exercise, this is the most positive and the best thing we can get out of our pooches, expect cuddle of course! Dogs need exercise, and without us, they wouldn’t get any, and without them you might get any either! It’s a massive encouragement to get up and go on a walk! It also encourages you to you the Gencon dog handling collar, if you find walking them difficult because they pull, why not try our dog trainer lead?!
They make us generally happier! Can you remember the last time you got home from work and didn’t smile at the sight of them? (Unless they’ve chewed up your favourite pair of shoes!). It is scientifically know that dogs improve our happiness and lift our moods, especially if it’s been a hard day in the office!
But happiness from dogs doesn’t just apply to adults, it also really helps children too! Dogs are known to increase a child’s childhood and make their memories last longer, having a family dog will make you all feel more connected!
If you read a recent article; Are Dogs Good Listeners, it is proven that dogs make children feel more comfortable, like learning to read can be a stressful and difficult time, but it’s proven that kids feel easier reading to a pooch because they pay full attention to them!
You may also feel safer and calmer, even if your dog isn’t a guard dog, some/most dogs will bark at the sight of sounds relating to someone entering your house, or even maybe out in public. They can reduce stress by up to a third!!
Going back to health, it’s also proven that they can lower your blood pressure when you play or stroke them, resulting in positive health benefits and furthermore, speed up the recovery from an illness!
It’s known that pooches can support dementia care and can reduce/decrease allergies in your household!
As well as all these benefits to your health, they do, in hindsight, keep you company and make you feel comforting. They’re also great for increasing your social life; there’s so many dog lovers, walker and enthusiasts that wherever you are and whoever you meet, dogs may be something you have in common!
And… this is why we love dogs so much!
